Women Power in Comics (WOMCOM) is a collaborative initiative involving partners from Serbia, Hungary, Slovenia, Greece, Croatia, and Montenegro. This Creative Europe project aims to foster collaboration and engagement among comic authors and illustrators with the goal of investigating and addressing gender issues in comics as well as empowering female comic artists through residencies, exhibitions, and conferences.

The main character, Vanja, goes through a whirlwind of fears, internal dilemmas and harsh reality. In this chaos, she tries to find reasons to live, while simultaneously feeling and realizing the meaninglessness that surrounds her. We are giving away 15 tickets for this performance.

In March 2015, due to political pressure and false pretenses, Carmen Aristegui, the main voice of independent journalism in Mexico, is fired with her team from the MVS Radio station. The next day more than 200,000 people demonstrate and sign a petition calling for her return on air and the end of censorship. Despite this exceptional mobilization, the station does not give way.

Series of activities organized by BeFeM, Femcheck and Feminizam iz teretane: Pprformance “(Don’t) Be Afraid of the Dark” questioning the right to safety both offline and online; Speed Dating with Feminists – an interactive session connecting the audience with activists, artists, journalists, and influencers fighting male violence, especially those engaged in digital activism; and film Screening - Leila Ruždi? Trifunovi? (BeFem production).

The Kvinna till Kvinna Foundation along with partner organisations hosts an annual Women's Civil Society Soundboard (WCSS) in partnership with the EU Delegation to Serbia and Member States' Deputy Heads of Missions. Each WCSS spotlights and addresses a different form of GBV and this year the theme will be, with EU Fundamentals, the Growth Plan and Reform Agenda and how they address GBV on paper versus in practice.

12:00 – 13:00 Panel Discussion Combating Disinformation and Hate Speech: A Danish-Serbian Dialogue

Verbal violence, hate speech, and disinformation are also central challenges to democratic dialogue and social trust in both, Denmark and Serbia. This event will bring together Danish and Serbian voices: survivors, media professionals, academics, civil society representative, and young voices (YEAs), to explore how societies can respond to verbal violence without compromising freedom of expression.

The performance was funded by Erasmus+ and produced by Group Hade da…. After the performance, the conversation with elementary school pupils will be held.

Europe House Belgrade

Girl is harrowing portrayal of the young women abducted by Boko Haram, written by Irish author Edna O'Brien's. Books in Spotlight are organized in partnership with Creative Europe Desk Srbija, Faculty of Philology and Philology Gymnasium.
